What we Believe
The infallible Book
The bible is the inspired word of God. The source of
its inspiration is God himself - God hath spoken; the method of its
inspiration is that holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy
Ghost: the extent of its inspiration is plenary, all scripure is
given by inspiration of God.
The Lord Jesus claimed an infallibility for the law
that extended to every jot and tittle. He also claimed inspiration
for his own words, saying my words shall not pass away. The object
of its inspiration is to make us wise unto salvation, to inform us
of God, to prepare us for divine service, to induce practical holiness and to
impart consolation and hope. Proofs of the inspiration of the bible are seen in
its organic unity, its scientific accuracy, its sublime morality, the
historical fulfilment of its own prophecies, and in the incomparable person of
Jesus Christ. Added to this is the experimental proof.
All who believe the message of the bible are changed.
This transformation is so rich as to constitute a new creation. The
original autographs of scripture have perished with time, but the bible has
been preserved by divine providence working through consecrated scholars and
scribes. Their labours have brought to us the bible in our mother tongue.
Insofar as a translation communicates the thoughts of the language in which the
scriptures first came, it carries the same inspiration. Divine inspiration
imparts infallibility, confirms authenticity, establishes authority, and
demands response. God speaks by the bible today - in English - to you.
