God's investment in our future

Tuesday 24th July

Today is also scheduled as a rest day for the team. Events will begin in earnest tomorrow.

The team have another day to themselves - some will go shopping again, some will be accompanying Frederick as he hands out leaflets in the town of Cuddalore, and some will be resting and preparing for the start of the pastors conference.

Greetings from the saints in Cuddalore!

Today has been a wonderful day in many respects. The shoppers went again to Pondicherry - many sandals, hats, saris and churridaas were purchased! Please send more money (joke!). Others stayed at the hotel and prepared for ministering.

Ian and Matt went into Cuddalore this afternoon in an auto-rickshaw complete with loudspeaker, plus a local interpreter and driver. They gave out leaflets about the gospel meetings. As they did this some local Christians invited them into their houses to pray - one lady was a Hindu related to the driver who wants to accept Jesus but would be thrown out by her family - she asked for prayer for wisdom and strength in her situation. They also prayed for an 80 year old lady who was ill in bed. They then went to the location of the gospel meetings to pray on the platform for the meetings. While doing this a crowd of workmen and other local people gathered - so the gospel was preached and 9 people gave their lives to the Lord - praise God! Needless to say Ian and Matt were leaping for joy and mightily encouraged.

Later on Ian and Jon went for a walk and Ian was taking photographs of one of the posters advertising the meetings - they saw a cow eating a Tamil poster right next to one of ours - by the way cows eat anything and everything!. The cow devoured the whole poster and then walked away leaving ours alone. So now our poster adorns a whole wall - see photo sent by Ian (we haven't received this photograph yet but wait in anticipation! [Jo]).

We had a special meal tonight and some of the team had lots of fun swimming in the pool which is located on the roof of the restaurant. A rat wanted to join in the fun but they chased it away!

Pastor Jackson arrived safely earlier this evening and is well and looking forward to tomorrow, as we all are.

Speakers tomorrow at the pastors conference are:

8.30-9.30 am - Vic - please pray for Vic as he has had an upset tummy.
9.30-10.30 am - Tina - please pray for her for boldness.
10.45-11.45 am - Graham - please pray for him for boldness.
11.45-12.45 pm - Nick - please pray for him for inspiration.

The gospel meetings begin at 6.30 pm and the two speakers are Vic and Graham. Please pray for them that they will speak out the gospel with great boldness and that many people will respond to their message. Pray also for the whole team who will be praying for those who respond after the meeting. Pray also for a real spirit of unity and love. Local pastors are saying that they expect 10,000 to attend over the 4 nights of the gospel meetings - hallelujah!

Good night and God bless.

Prayer Requests

1] Please pray that God will continue to be close to the team and that he will give them boldness in their preaching

2] Praise God for and pray for the Indian team who are looking after the English team, that God will mightly bless them.
