Using the Prophetic in ChurchWhat to share in prophecyAnother question that is often asked is "What should I actually say?" Well unless God has shown you exactly what to say there is a need to interpret. I think every pastor must get fed up with prophecies that are obscure like the one about a penguin on a tightrope with an umbrella. If God has spoken to you through a picture, it may not be necessary for you to describe the picture but rather the interpretation of the picture. The question is what is God saying and not how he spoke to you. Long drawn out explanations of where you were or what you were doing when God spoke to you are often a distraction and need not be shared. You may want to find some starting phrase (preamble) that encourages people to weigh what is being said, like "I believe that God is saying " or "It is important to weigh prophecy and I would ask you to listen carefully because I believe that God is saying " Phrases like "Thus says the Lord" are in the main the result of the church not taking prophecy seriously and a lack of teaching. |
