Helpful Hints for Getting Started ... continuedDispensing the prophetic - Only what the Lord saysNever be tempted to say more than has been said to you. Prov 30:6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. Num 24:13 " I could not do anything of my own accord, good or bad, to go beyond the command of the Lord - and I must say only what the LORD says.." What about when you know something about a person and God is saying the same thing to you? This is very difficult and not surprisingly so, but it is important that when speaking to or about people or their situations that the person feels safe, and that it is God speaking to them. The one prophesying must ensure that they maintain their integrity and good conscience in what they say. However, sometimes the prophetic does speak into situations that we already know about. All one can do is employ extreme caution and ensure that the prophetic utterance is submitted and left with the leadership of the congregation or an individual where the word was meaningful to them. Sometimes there is a lack of confidence by the person going to prophesy. This can be displayed in a number of ways such as:
If this happens to you, it may be worth spending more time waiting on God and asking Him to reveal more to you about a particular situation and to give you wisdom in knowing when to bring the prophetic word. It may be that He will reveal the whole picture to you over time. It may be that something has happened to cause your lack of confidence. Come before the Lord in prayer and ask Him to show you when that happened and how you can get back to the level you were operating in. It may be that He wants to teach you something new in the prophetic. Spend some time asking Him and meditating on Him to see if there is a new lesson He wants you to learn. |
