Helpful Hints for Getting Started ... continuedDispensing the prophetic - Complete SubmissionWe are not speaking here of the prophet who is a ministry gift, rather the ordinary Christian in the body of Christ prophesying as Paul encourages us to do: 1 Cor.14: 1 "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men." The prophet in this sense has no authority in the church, his responsibility is to give the prophetic word he has received from the Lord, whilst being in submission to the church leadership or leader of the event or gathering. Submission is a key as we seek to serve the Lord, as Paul exhorts us: Eph 5:21 "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." It may be helpful to have a mentor, that is someone who has a recognised ministry of moving in the prophetic, to help and guide you as you move out in the prophetic ministry. This is another form of submission, implying that you are making yourself accountable and remaining teachable. |
