Developing the prophetic - Intermediate Level

To develop in the prophetic involves having a desire to go further and deeper into this ministry, with the accompanying responsibilities. As in the basic level, prayer, meditation and waiting on God is paramount and should play a prominent role in your development.

At the same time, you may be aware that the Holy Spirit will highlight areas in your own life which He wants you to deal with. It is essential that we make sure we are clean vessels for the Lord to use in this prophetic ministry.

As you develop you will probably experience a greater measure of confidence in moving in the prophetic; however, be careful to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Don't be tempted to go beyond what God is saying and be careful how you deliver the word. Never use the prophetic to criticise, expose, or embarrass people. Remember, prophecy is given to edify, exhort and comfort God's people. It is still necessary to be in submission to leadership at all times, and that any prophetic word you give is weighed by those hearing it.

God may begin to show you people in a congregation who have a ministry like that of a bible character. When this happens, he will use you to prophesy over the person, stating the obvious, for example, they're in a wheelchair, and asking them questions to confirm the word God is giving, then delivering the prophetic word.
