So in Closing ... continuedLiving a gracious and generous lifeThe main cause for the divisions and splits in the church is that Christians have not learnt how to live a gracious and generous life. As a local church leadership we have had to discover the variety and vitality that disagreement can bring if held in the right manner. It is OK to allow a friend or associate to be wrong about a particular subject. You can allow them to be wrong and not break relationship because of their error. Of course, there is always the possibility that it is us who are wrong. This graciousness towards others and their beliefs should in no way dillute or pollute our own beliefs. Rather we can apply the following principle. What is important is that in the essentials we have unity, and in everything else charity. Be generous with others forgiving them the mistakes and errors of their doctrine for through friendship you may win them to your sound doctrine (as you see it). The beauty of living a gracious and generous lifestyle is that you will live a longer and a greater life. |
