The Teenager and Sex

Ever since the 1960s when the so‑called permissive society began, sex has been a continual source of discussion. It is of interest to note that under the strict moral regime of Victorian times, death was freely spoken of, but sex was taboo, while nowadays sex is freely spoken of and death is taboo!

Girlie magazines and glossy instruction manuals roll off the press, and panels of media pundits have delved into every aspect of the subject at the drop of a hat. With the advent of the contraceptive pill and virtually abortion on demand, the brakes have been taken off traditional values. The result only seems to have left the younger generation more confused than ever. There are more teenage pregnancies and abortions than ever; marriages are breaking up earlier, to say nothing of the dark spectre of AIDS hovering in the background.

Some of the barriers have been broken down because, when sex education is given, it ignores the essential framework of love and marriage which is so necessary in such an important relationship.
