Retirement from work does not mean retirement from life. It is good to keep active and in circulation with friends and company. Withdrawal from what is going on will speed atrophy in body and mind.

Think deeply, read widely and people will want to talk to you. Undue stresses and strains should be avoided, and a simple time‑table for each day will enable you to get the best out of it.

Hobbies once toyed with can be seriously developed. Regular exercise is a must, paced according to age and state of health. A brisk walk each morning and a weekly swim will tone up the muscles and stimulate blood circulation.

Evening classes and correspondence courses can open the door to new subjects and skills. Some have taken Open University courses and of course the Voluntary agencies and churches are always looking for help.
