God's investment in our future

Thursday 1st June

We had a short email from Roger last night about today:

There is a change of plans for today - we are going to visit the orphanage and the school.

We have received a fuller report about today by email:

The day started with shopping and lunch out. Roger was working in the office. Then we set off for the school. We were surprised at the work that had been done since our last visit two years ago. The new floor containing the computer block is near completion. The children had just started back to school. The team visited each class and distributed lolly pops to the younger children. In one class the children sung songs to the team, it was really quite touching. We are always surprised at how well behaved the children are in the school. We also took a photograph of the printer which was funded by Fred Nicholson School in Dereham.

Then we went on to the orphange. What a shock! The amount of building work has transformed the site. We visited the new dormatory rooms and the new kitchen and in the middle, houses have been built for the headmistress of the school and for Pastor Jackson.

The children were just starting to return from their summer holiday that is often spent with family members. There are two german ladies helping at the Orphanage, one was there two years ago and hopes to stay there long term and the other is Claudia, who is spending a year helping with the children. The government has introduced new rules for orphanages and this means that the cost of running the orphanage have spiralled and they are desperately looking for sponsorship. If anyone wants more information please contact Roger, roger.pawsey@watton.org

Then we went straight on to a prayer meeting at Pastor Ruby's house. The meeting started and there were about 55 people in a small room and every so often the pastor would ask people to shuffle forward as people were still arriving. In the end there was probably more than 70 in the room and people spilling out on to the street. The street is very narrow and the whole street seemed to want pray at the end of the meeting. The whole team shared for a few moments and then the team were garlanded before we prayed for people. Roger prayed for one young man who was a Hindu, during the prayer God spoke to the man and he gave his life to Jesus. Everyone, including his mother, was celebrating.

Then we went to Sister Anal's for dinner. Exhausted the team return to the hotel and all slept well after a long day. Simon and Fredrick returned from Andra Pradesh excited with many stories from the graduation of the students they had been teaching.

Take a look at the picture gallery for some photographs taken today.

Please pray:

  1. For the team that God would refresh and sustain them during their busy schedule.
  2. For the health of the team.
